Steve-O,I second that opinion. All of these older amps need the operating voltages checked on all of the tube pins to be sure the amp is operating correctly. Even when the amps show acceptable operating voltages, replacement of the caps will lower the power transformer temp, lower the distortion and increase the power.
Caps which are in the signal path will change the sound of the amp as much as tube rolling. A Mc re-caped with modern poly caps will sound much more like a modern amp.
