Now THIS seems like the way to go... "NOS 5687WB CRYO"

We have a good stock of this vacuum tube medium mu triode tube. Many are designing circuits around this excellent vacuum tube. We have Tung-Sol 5687, older type with black plates, with "D" ring getter, est. late 1950's production, copper posts, one of the best types ever made. The improvement in transparency and overall sonics is stunning with this CRYO TREATMENT!!"

What with the reputation of this valve and the relative retail price tag, I just had to ask - Has anyone tried these out? Anyone have any Personal Experience with this Specific type vs. the non-cryoed type?

I know a lot of people seem to think the Cryogenic stuff is a bunch of hullaballoo... The question is - have you heard it? I have not...

And hey, didn't Cryogenically treated tubes used to cost a fortune?? What happened?

BTW - Not to disappoint, but my question is hypothetical... in a personal sense, as I am currently getting together a "little" collection for projects in the months to come, but do not currently use this tube. I own a pair of the TungSols though, one has a Black Plate and one has the Bronze... So I guess they're not OFFICIALLY a pair;~)

Anyhow, any helpful hints could help steer me in the right direction as well as help out others here at the Tubes!!

Take care,

Brian Malman

. . . Oh yeah... The Photo above? TungSol made some Classic Auto bulbs as well:~~D
