Re: 6em7 SPUD

Ejam -

The 6EM7 power supply uses a 560vct transformer into a 5V4G into a 40uf cap. I then used separate 12H/360 ohm chokes into separate 50uf caps for each channel. Honestly, most values are based on what I had in surplus.

The 6EM7 puts out more volume than the DC darling. The Darling is a really sweet amp within it's very limited capabilities, but 3/4 of a watt is very limited. The 6EM7 is more enjoyable to actually live with unless you have a really small room and very efficient speakers.

Before you build either, grab a few dozen test clips (I'm sure Vinnie can lend out a few :) and build both! The 6J4/1626/6EM7 tubes are all really cheap, and a Hammond 125ESE works nicely with both. If you don't have one, grab a bench power supply (the old Heathkit's are wonderful). You can clip together both amps in under 15 minutes once you get the hang of it.

Enjoy!
