Well, I've removed the ST70 from my system (my Maggies are being powered only by my two McIntosh MC30s now, so it ain't so bad...). I figure it's time to keep the ST70 turned off before it gets any worse.I think I'll get the amp looked at and probably rebuilt by a pro. I thank you all for your input, advice, and expertise.
