Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

...not to add to your anxiety, but

...you're constantly aging, and it will affect your hearing.

I think the only solution is cryogenic suspension between listening sessions:-)

In my humble opinion, and everyone's free to disagree, tubes have a pretty long life and are more rugged than people think. My hunch is you have longer than you think to worry about anything going south.

Take some of that money you already have alotted to your next audio purchase, and go see some music. Go to the symphony, go to a piano bar, hell, go to a polka party on Milwaukee Ave. (I'll buy you a beer).

I hope my kidding is taken in the spirit I offer it in; I wish nothing but well. I've been there with bouts of panic over my turntable setup, speaker positioning, etc. It's easy to forget that initial feeling of joy I got when I started into this hobby.

By the looks of your post, you have a dynamite system. Maybe you should spend time with an old SS integrated and a pair of Zenith three-ways, just to refresh your appreciation of your main system?

Oh well, the active mind is never satisfied for long.

Good luck
