Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Why not just use a 807 or 1625?

Or even a 6BG6. Except for filament and basing (and the plate cap) are virtually identical to a 6L6 and will be much happier at 550v.

1625's are a real sleeper. Dirt cheap, and beautiful NOS. Essentially a 12v 6L6 variant with a 6 pin base and plate cap. Use DC on the filaments if noise becomes an issue.
