A reasonable concern, but I think it's just fine. The relay contacts only "see" the voltage across the 1K resistor - not the entire B+.The relay is rated for 1000vac insulation between contacts and coil.
You could always use it to trigger a second relay (or wire it to a relay off of the PCB).
In any case, it's worked for 2+ years and thousands of on/off cycles.
