Caution - regular silicone caulk is corrosive

Cheap-jack, sorry to bring bad news, your connections will turn green in a couple of months.
Common silicone caulk has ascetic acid and smells of vinegar. It is also called "acid cure" caulk, it attacks copper within hours.

I have found that aquarium "neutral cure" silicone caulk does not seem to corrode metals.
Good luck
