Erik -Look in older ARRL yearbooks. Lots of good info about MV rectifiers and huge power supplies.
Millen, EF Johnson etc used to make small RF chokes for the filament leads. I don't know of any current sources, but have picked up a small handful over the years at hamfests. IIRC, most are small values of inductance, but good for a few amps.
I bet the modern inductors used to remove ignition noise from car audio gear would do the trick as long as they were properly insulated.
