In my system, for my taste in music, a correctly bypassed cathode sounds more punchy in the bass and more dynamic. The tradeoff is
the dreaded "electrolytic sound": bleached mids, dirty treble.
So, what is one to do ? Bypass for rock and jazz, no bypass for classics ????This dilemma is easy to solve:
Use two Black gate N or NX nonpolar caps in paralell (in a yin-yang position). This combination passes AC like a film cap, it sounds very close to no cap at all, with huge dynamics and gobs of definition.
I hope this helps
