46's are easy to locate, and fairly inexpensive even as NOS. I've never tried 59's. Finding matched quads of 46's shouldn't be difficult. Globe 46's are rather uncommon. Sonically the ST's are fine, but the globe 46's are much better looking.

The output transformers are Electraprint 5K primaries. Power is a NOS Thordarson, and the two chokes are vintage Stancor swing/smooth types. The dual 4/5 pin sockets are to allow switching between 45/46/2A3 and even 300B.

The filament transformer (right side) is a 5vct type, which I can use for either 5v or 2.5v. The rectifer can be swapped between 83/83V and 5Z3 to vary the B+. I can also switch between choke loaded, or add a 2uf input cap (right side yellow cap) to shift up the B+ for 300B use. There are both 1.5K and 820 ohm cathode resistors available (top left).

The driver circuit is on a small PC board (bottom right).
