Stefan -Which version did you build?
It should be very nice sounding. Obviously it clips easily - but within the power limits is a very sweet sounding amp.
A few thoughts...
Did you remember that the cathode resistors/caps are common to both channels?
Do your voltages match Bob's schematic?
Is it oscillating? The 8532/6J4 loves to go RF, which will lead to all sorts of harshness. I added a 1K carbon composition grid stopper on the 8532 as well as a few ferrite beads.
