All true , mine c-40X were buzzing even in SE45 amp. It's just a question of poor mechanical assembly nothing more. I'd rather worry about my rectifier (gz34) than the L1 choke being overstressed by "uncontainable" inrush current ;) Short experiment with commercial amp (Golden Tube Audio 300b Monos ) so not much room for wiggle.
The PSU setup is Power trans ~330V 120 Ohm across whole secondary , Gz34 , L1 triad c-40x , 30uF , L2 -2.5H /30 Ohm , 100uF. It sounds "livelier" compared to CLC setup with both 100uf caps like in the original. Since the trans are given and need to stay, I can only add resistance to psu chain not subtract :) I will try SS rectifier I have some cree diodes since voltage drop is 25V more than the PSUD II predicts , must be the copper loses; ~40V compared to cap input.
