But you listen to music modulated by low level hum .
When I think of it I never had a really quiet amp , not a tube one , be it commercial or DIY not to mention vintage amps. Yes , when music is playing it's all fine and the hum isn't really bothersome or audible from listening position but it's always there. 100 dB and up is a different reality than 88-92 dB.
