You’re right - it's probably nearly impossible to simulate what's happening in an amplifier while playing 'real music'. We can't accurately ‘describe’ (simulate) the current waveform demanded of the power supply.
What I'd like to do is to bring home one of those fancy digital scopes that we have at work that can store 15,000 samples. I'd like to see what's happening at the power supply output when playing 'real' music through a PP amp. I'm a little nervous about connecting a scope probe to over 400 volts, however, and I'm afraid that using AC coupling will alter the results.
