Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

RE: M-Caps

tubers, hi. Silver wire. Bright? Bass shy? I've heard all the complaints. I've even heard complaints from those who have not listened through silver at all. If the silver option costs an arm and a leg from your builder it might be prudent to go with copper. However as one who has used silver (i built it) interconnects and speaker cable for more than 20 years I say it trounces any copper variations/combinations I have ever heard. For the adventurous DIY guys (and gals) get some soft (annealed) silver wire and experiment. Use Teflon tube to contain and protect it. It doesn't have to fit tight. One pair of interconnect or even a matter of inches of silver wire in your home builds should be sufficient for the test. The oxide and other reactive products of silver are benign to audio. The same for copper are death to audio. Experiment with silver a bit, kiddies, you might be in for a surprise. Happy Listening!
