RE: JJ 2A3-40 vs. JJ 300B in P-P

Michael, hi. Lovely work. The perf-metal see-the-insides look is nothing less than This Island Earth. Did you order XZ Condensers from Supreme Electronics on the teletype for these beauties? Let's plug 'em in and see what happens! I hope the loose base problem was solved OK. On a more serious note (not intended to invoke Dennis) I tried JJ ECC99 in a circuit (SET) designed around 5687 (6900, 7119 etc) but did not like the result. Instead of a musical 3D you-are-there kind of presentation everything more or less went flat and the life was gone. Still working the problem. You may be on target re JJ 2A3-40 vs JJ 300B comparisons/ conclusions yet if you treat the JJ 2A3-40 like a classic 2A3 the sonic results are mighty nice. The shunt-regulated B- with gas tubes is wizard. I'm figuring you're getting about 1/2 Watt per 40 pounds for the weight/power ratio.
