tubesforever, hi. You may have opened Pandora's box. OK. Here we go. I dislike them intensely. Paper in oil? What paper? I have some 0.22 1200V Dorfs (as we call them around here) purchased out of sheer curiosity. Curiosity can get expensive, but I degress. These Dorfs are much smaller than Jensen 0.22 coppers. The size and bulging shape suggest plastic film, perhaps metalized, and very little oil. I know what is in the Jensen coppers. I really don't know what is inside the Dorfs. 1200V DC rated? Hmmm. I sense metalized plastic film. Now, compare the Dorfs to RU K-40Y. Hah! What a joke. The physical package tells a great deal. I am almost ready to drop the Dorfs into a circuit I know well and give them another shot. They lasted less than 15 minutes last time before my ears begged me to stop. I would try: Jensen oilers, K-40Y, Vitamin Q, and Reliable Capacitor TFT Teflon & tin foil or polypropylene & copper foil long before the Dorfs. Conversely I have had excellent results with Dorfs in speaker applications. Whether it is because they don't see B+ or whatever the Dorfs do work well in this application. Go figure. Happy Listening.
