K40-Y9 - you're OK.

TIA, hi. Mike Samra is right on the beam. As a rule of thumb I like to use higher voltage rated caps because I think they tend to sound better, but you're OK with your application. The K-40Y series is just cosmic out of this world good. These things come closer to pulling an audio disappearing act than anything. My application was in the second stage of a three stage amplifier to final tube grids. First stage uses a Rel-Cap TFT Teflon & tin film. I like the TFT and K-40Y combo. I tried a K-40Y in first position but switched to TFT. Mike wants me to run the K-40Y for a longer period of time (break in) before passing judgement. I may at some point try this but for now the combo I have makes powerful musical magic.
If I do anything to these amps it will be IT coupling - perhaps in both stages. More and more I have been loving the sonic attributes of IT coupling including a more relaxed natural sound where clarity is king and a most plausible illusion of reality comes to the fore. I kid you not.
My prediction is the longer you listen via the K-40Y the better it will sound. It starts out good and just gets better and better. Happy Listening.
