drsx, hi. I first tried Mundorf in a loudspeaker application related to adding a Fostex ring emitter super tweeter. In this use I thought the Mundorf worked well. I used the top of the line at the time. I know other loudspeaker builders who liked the results in using Mundorfs. I also had been working on a pair of parallel 300B amps with RC coupling. I switched out a pair of Jensen copper foil oil caps for the highest grade Mundorf. My expectations were high. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I could not stand to listen with the Mundorfs installed for much more than 10 minutes. They were horrible - harsh, muddy, flat, etc. This cooled my ardor for anything branded Mundorf. The Jensen were light years better. Mundorf electrolytics? Hmmm. The only new electrolytic technology was the Jelmax Black Gate using carbon particles plus electrolyte or Cerefine with ceramic particles. The Black Gate are like nothing else on earth except perhaps for Cerafine. Production has ceased for both. Some stocks remain but are running out. Other than Cerafine and Black Gate you would be best served by using dry polypropylene (Unlytic, Solen, SCR, etc) or polypropylene & oil types (ASC,etc). After having spent good money on a pair of Mundorf 0.22 caps I am leary of their other offerings which carry the aroma of niche brand clever marketing and perhaps not performance. There has ever been a desire for "special" parts which will impart their "magic" to whatever. There will always be those who are happy to fill that need for money.
