Re: New S.E.T. Project Pictures and Black Gate Question

Andrew, hi. I have used BlackGate and Elna Cerafine as cathode bypass to good effect. Don't rule out polypropylene or styrene for bypass duties. You may find you like films in this application as much as or more than BG. Have used BG in several amps with terrific results. I don't leave amps powered up 24/7. The BG excell as PS B+ filters. It will take several hundreds of hours for the BG to settle down in your amp. I find the BG performance to be so much better than other electrolytic choices that a second choice among electrolytics is non-existant. Cerafine was my other lytic cap of choice, but in direct comparison the BG takes the cake. I have used BG in PS mixed with other non-electrolytic choices with great results. Even without the L cancelling pairs technique I find the BG lowers the noise floor nicely. The only caveat with BG is don't push the voltage max at all. I believe you have made a wise choice with BG, and that fact will be confirmed again and again as your amps break in and you hear them more and more. Congrats on the project.
