I was visiting a friend a few years ago who has a pretty high end phono system(VPI Mark V, Graham 2.2, Clearaudio Insider, ARC Phono) that cost well over $20,000. We compared Kind of Blue on his phono(six eye and Classic 45) to a 2 track 7.5 ips KOB on a stock Revox B-77($500 or so). No comparison. The tape was beter in just about every aspect. The only downside is that the 2 track contains only half the contents of the LP. I would have liked to compare the 1/4 track but did not have one at the time. With good tube playback electronics, the difference would have been even greater.
