Re: Skin Effect At Audio Frequencies

Skin effect is very easy to hear at audio frequencies.
May I suggest a simple and inexpensive experiment: Buy Radio Shack magnet wire, it comes in a bag with 3 rolls: AWG 20, 26 and 32 if I recall correctly.
Make a pair of interconnects with AWG 20 for ground/return and AWG 20 for hot.
Another one AWG 20 GND + 26 H; another one AWG 20 GND + 32H.
Use identical RCAs for all three pairs, therefore there is only one variable in your experiment: the diameter of the hot conductor.
Listen to your favorite music with the double AWG 20 IC then switch to 26 and 32. I bet you will hear a progressive opening up of soundstaging, coherence and treble output(unless there is huge bottleneck in your system).
Another, easier way to do it is to use two lengths of AC wire as speaker cables, same brand, solid copper, Romex is fine.
Comparing AWG 12 to AWG 18 should in 5 minutes tell you all the variables that are not in the formulas.
