Probably a person with limited space. Near field can be very good. I recall a guy who set up his MG-20s near field because his wife relegated him to a room that was 10 feet square. Sound was spooky good but somewhat claustrophobic for me. As for John, he gets a kick out of trying different things. He enjoys his hobby.
