RE: Gallo Ref 3.5 absolute phase reversal question

You can can check for correct polarity visually or by feel. Find a piece that has good drum strikes or bass licks and turn it up fairly loud (you want woofer movement). Make sure the grills are off the speakers so you can see the woofers. Looking from the side of the woofer see if the cone moves in or out at the drum strike. If it moves in, it is out of phase and needs to be reversed. If you can't tell by looking, gently put your finger on the rubber surround where the cone meets it, you should easily be able to tell. You should get better bass & imaging with proper phase.
