Filling speaker stands...

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on a new pair of speakers. Bought the Ascend Acoustics Sierra-2s and the Ascend TP-24 stands.

I've only had the Sierras for a few days, but I am mightily impressed so far.

The TP-24s are very nicely made of thick, processed board, but have a large resonant cavity that I'm assuming should be filled to extract maximum performance.

Aside from the usual suspects (sand, kitty litter, etc.) does anyone have any other suggestions for material to fill these stands?

Since the only opening is a 1-1/2" hole in the top of the column, I'd like to get this right the first time... I think trying to get the material back out would be a very frustrating exercise.

I would also like to keep the total weight reasonable, so I can move them as needed. The stands weigh 20lbs. each, unfilled.

The speakers are situated on a suspended wood floor in an apartment, if that makes any difference.

Any advice or comments would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
SF
