You may try to audition Living Voice speakers which are built around the same concepts but are little better tonally and have cleaner presentation. Unfortunately, I think the cabinet is also little more pronounced.
If I had $10-20K budget I'd find gifted designer and commission a custom speaker with mix of vintage /modern drivers in your favorite topology. I really like AN speakers and respect P.Q. Not for his prices and shrewd marketing and myth building gifts but for his real and keen interest in music. I had AN E/L but next to altec based speakers they were harmonically poor although much more balanced. I'm not advocating vintage. Just taking the best from both worlds which commercially is not a viable option. There are no off shelf available speaker drivers which offer the tone quality of JBL LE8 , altec 805a or Tannoy Red.
PS. Shindo is not a rip off. I think he should charge double in USA for the things he picked up on US damp ground as worthless.
