They do better in smaller and small rooms where their "boxines" is not that evident, also they were designed with 20 W tube amps in mind . I have a pair of older Avatars and they have lovely tonality I'd say along Audio Note speakers. In the middle of big room with SS electronics they sound pretty horrible though and even stand based old Proac Response 2 is more convincing.I think that if you put them in symphatetic setup there are few if any speakers which can match their musicality and tonal "beauty". I read they were voiced with Kondo electronis and mr. Kondo used to demo his equipment with LV speakers( not to mention that the designer is Kondo UK distributor so it was in mutual interest:).Definitely worth audition but agree that it's not a product you should by based on any review.
