Well , I think they were a real Proac speakers and you should have kept them. You surely would recognized the fake ones for their much inferior sound being a seasoned audiophile wouldn't ya? All the kidding aside I bought a genuine CC1 center channel from pro audio installer without serial # (sharpie marker usually) on them . The serial was printed on the box. So , it happened before and it's nothing unusual. I'd also tend to believe that some proac engineer used better parts in this model because regular 2.5 uses rather pedestrian crossover parts , mylar cap etc. Too bad you passed on them.
