I agree with your points. The problem with horns is that virtually troughout
commercially available or vintage horn speakers there only exists a premise of horn sound. Full potential is rarely if ever realised because of complexity, size and cost, but it is there. I have an access to SOTA planar setup any day of the week (albeit in less than optimal setting) and clean and impressive as it sounds it always seems alien and detached from reality, although my friend swears that it's what he hears when attending his favorite chamber music concerts.
