No ,I'm not "experienced" audiophile and I don't even want to be an audiophile because I don't like modern High-End audio and despise "the quality" it offers and the price for this "quality". My last system consisted Rega P9 with old Bez MC (VDH retip)and Dynavector XX-I carts, hagerman Cornet II and custom JJ Fet phono stages, S&B based TVC passive preamp, pair of 45 tube amps, driving TAD TD-4001 horns and TAD ET-703 tweeters pair of 300BXL tube amps, driving Vintage K-horn Bass bins with altec driver (sounding nothing alike Klipsch crap woofer), modified old Mcintosh CD player (clock, NO-NOS module ,tube output). Before that I had, Oris like system with Lowther DX4, before that AN system with AN Quests and later AN-E speakers, before that Bow technologies ZZ-1 with Cabasse Iroise. My friend and almost neighbour has newer Mcintosh system driving B&W Nautilus 802 and my other friend sells reference line of Audio Research, Vandersteen and Magnepan brands and pletora of brit brands.I think I've had a decent exposure so I can offer my biased opinion.
Now, I just listen to small Proac 1S clones with original midbass woofers and upgraded hiquphon OWI tweeters with olds ASL KT88 PP amp and DVD player ,system I put together for my GF. It is very pleasantly colored
and taste like very nicely engineered artificial food. The danger is once you get to like that taste it's quite difficult to appreciate the real thing. (I.e youth preferring McDonald , i-phone MP3 sound to almost anything...)Rgrds, W
