Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Speakers for classical in a large room.

Audio Note E will have no problem in that room - might like it better than the usual cooped up rooms they get stuck in. You have a hard corner on the left and a semi-corner on the right and they will fill that space with enormous sound.

I would also consider a used set of Tannoy System 215 DMT II Studio Monitor as I don't think they make this any more - but it is butt ugly and will require work to position them. I also like the Tannoy Kensington but I never pushed them hard but they filled a larger room that yours nicely. Still the AN E can be positioned very far apart and like a very big toe in (or no toe in at all for that matter) and IMO they do better in live rooms. The less bloody damping in the room the better IMO. However all are slightly above your budget.

Another speaker to consider is the Gallo 3.5 but it's harder to drive but you do have a Bryston 3B ST.

Personally, I'd be getting rid of the Bryston for some sort of Single ended amplifier - you'll get nopwhere in the long run with those kinds of high damping factor high negative feedback amplifiers.
