More easy fixes

I agree with much of what you are saying...but a few simple tweaks can address these issues as well.

I have successfully addressed the TV issue in my own setup by moving the speakers forward, so that they are not in the same plane as the TV surface (which has a tendency to act as an extension of the speaker's baffle if they are both in the same plane). Thus arranged, the TV seems to disappear acoustically.

It may look odd, but the coffee table can be covered with a wool rug too, when the system is in use. This too will tend to make the table vanish as a sound source (an acoustic reflector of the speaker's output).
