A tough space.
In order to get that effortless presentation, you need a high sens. loudspeakers. No matter how well regarded, small box on stands or narrow pretty looking smallish floorstanders just won't cut it.
Your loft is like my friend's loft. She kept blowing drivers on 2 ways trying to fill the space. Ended up with the Tyler PD15 ( sort of like a JBL clone ) which does a good job filling the space. Albeit now she wants me to sell them because she thinks they are too big for the room. :x
The DBL is high-ish sensitivity ( above 90db ) and given the right power, not necessarily in terms of power output, can do the big dynamics as well as excel in micro dynamics.
