Re: Is the little Epos ELS-3 really the poor man's LS3/5a?

like 3/5s, i think the els3's sound at their absolute best on REALLY firm stands pulled into the room a bit, and with a little 4" woofer, of COURSE they have no bass! neither does the 3/5! 8 of them don't have the surface area of 1 12" speaker! i've heard them (the els) in some tatty home systems, and they're a little course- but yamaha recievers with $100 cd players and bad interconnects? definitely gotta think systematically. i've heard 3/5's sound rough too, though. just depends on what it's paired with! i definitely like the softer tweet of the ls3/5 though..

feed 'em well-- for $300, it'd be hard to complain about not having perfection! for that price, you can certainly afford to work on your front end, and i'd think it'd get exponentially better.. but i think they definitely fill the same sort price point logic! (except the rogers originals cost WAYYY more than $300 any more!)
