I'm really impressed with the Snells. They sound good with any amplifier I've tried but revealed the benefits of the Plinius to a greater degree than my other speakers.
I'll try the arrangement you suggest but probably can't leave them there for functional reasons. Having two listening positions is also an issue.
I was thinking of trying a removeable sleeve to shrink the port diameter to 63mm like the Audio Note E (IIRC). I imagine that Audio Note uses the smaller port to optimize performance near a corner or wall.
I will experiment around with the rear tweeter but I really like the smooth and extended top end they have as they are. My guess is that Peter Snell knew what he was doing with this and that while there may be some benefits to masking it, I may lose some of the magic in doing so.
For stands, I had in mind trying something heavy and about 10" tall.David
