Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Snell E II placements and stands

I am hoping that some people who have experience with these or similar speakers will share it and save me a lot of furnature moving.

I am note sure whether the Audio Note E's are similar enough as their port size is smaller (The Snells have a 75mm (3")port that is 128mm long)

Right now the speakers are angled about 30 deg in, 3400mm apart, on their original 60mm base, tilted back a little, about 500mm from the side walls and 1100mm from the back wall. (all dimensions to face of speaker in front of woofer center)

There is record storage in the corner behind each speaker so to try true corner placement Ive got to move a lot of records and furniture.

If I leave them where they are I have to take the doors off the record storage cabinets. (not a big deal)

If I pull them forward a bit, the doors can stay but there is dicontinuity in the sound stage with some recordings.

If I put them inboard of the record storage units, (between them and the TV) I would have to move all the equipment and possibly be buying longer interconnects and speaker cable.

I am driving these with a Plinius 9100 from turntable and CD and listen primarily to Classical and Jazz with an emphasis toward piano and female vocal.

Room is 6700 Long, 4430 Wide and 2200 High. I listen primarily from a desk chair 1400 from the rear wall (4200 in front of present speaker location) and a couch 2800 from the rear wall 2800 in front of present speaker location. Floor is carpet, there are bookshelves on the side walls forward of the speakers, there are overhead cupboards, 2nd desk and filing cabinets on rear wall
Trying all the options myself would be a lot of work and may be expensive so suggestions based on actual experience would be particularly appreciated.

Thanks

David
