People get so caught up in sensitivity with tube amps that they forget that impdence is much more important. Better to have a flat speaker at 8 ohms and 85 db than a speaker like, say, a B & W 602 that has 90 db sensitivity ("gee, must be good for tubes") but an impedence curve that dips from 8 ohms down to 4 or less in the bass. I can tell you from experience that it's not the best speaker for tubes (and glad those midfi speaker days are gone, heh.) I'm guessing your 85db speakers have a decent impdence curve if you like tubes on 'em! And good for listening at moderate levels. Even though I listen to rock a lot (as well as most other forms of music), I rarely ever go over 85 db peaks, more on average upper 70s to 80. Some people listen at levels that insure that they will have hearing damage some day.
