Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Incorrect

Greetings,

If a speaker system has flat frequency response from 20-20kHz, then by definition, this means that the ratio of complex amplitude of sound pressure level at the listening position, to the input drive voltage at the speaker terminals, is constant. If the voltage is constant, and the impedance response flat (as it rarely is, but it's close enough for the purpose of a general discussion like this,) then the input drive power is constant as well. This means that 1W electrical power at 20Hz would sound as loud as 1W at 20kHz at the listening position.

Best,
