I replied to your email, but just noticed your question here. 28 inches is the right height. It's very important that you don't see the tops of the speakers if you want the correct frequency response from the P3's. You don't have to spend a lot of money on stands for these speakers. Alan Shaw says the "only" function of a stand is to get the tweeter up to the right (ear level) height. For I've used Target metal stands with 2 posts that I filled with kitty litter, but wooden stands would be fine too.Paul
