That's the beauty of capitalism, and of the fungibility of money. I spend the week earning the money to buy things -- including leisure time -- and spend my free time with my wife and 3-year-old daughter enjoying all the wonderful recreational activities that San Diego has to offer.That said, if one really LIKES to build things, go for it. In my retirement (I'm 40) I plan to set up a little shop and build some kit speakers (to start) and possibly even more advanced designs. Just for fun and gifts etc.
