First, hate to say it, but get your hearing checked. If the meter says no problem it's your ears. I have been down that road. Got lucky, now use hearing protection at work, and don't have to move the balance knob after a year. Second try for used ProAc Studio 100's, but not over five years old cuz the foams do go in 10 years. If you are up to a kit, check out the Seas Odin at Madisoound, or better yet, check out the ScanSpeak Revelator drivers and a crossover with Hovland caps, Madisound sells boxes and will design the crossover for you. Get hovland caps. You will have state of the art for maybe a little over your budget. For cheap, the Seas 7" aluminum woofer with a ScanSpeak 2010 tweeter is real good, will work very well with the BK.
