Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

my impression...

BTW: I haven't had a chance to listen to them myself, but I get the feeling that the Excelarray (designed by Jim Griffin) from Selahaudio beats the Alpha LS, apparently because of the $1,000/pr ribbon tweeters. The Excelarray is also about double the price (for the parts), and were designed after the guy listened to the Alpha LS and thought he could do much better.

The problem people have complained about with the Alpha LS, is the Neo8 planar tweeters have a peculiar output. They have a steady increase from 7kHz to 12kHz of +10dB, then roll-off 10dB before 20kHz.

I think if you're in a position to buy either, you're obligated to hear both. Then figure out if you can justify the price vs. sound.
