The resentment toward Chinese gear is two fold . One , people who spend $300 for Sundays football game without a second thought are crushed that their $300 Chinese amp went in smoke a week after purchase. Somehow the notion of "getting what you paid for " disappeared " from our culture of disposable dirty cheap Chinese products. Second , the same amp with $3 parts changes is offered to public for 5x the price by "reputable" dealers and manufacturers. There is a state of confusion on the market.
I have no doubt Chinese amps can sound great . How difficult it is for resourceful manufacturer to buy Audio Note or other established brand amp, unwind transformers , check geometry and core material and make a copy ? The rest of 20 parts used in such an amp is just a piece of cake. Do you think such an amp will sound bad? If the parts are of half decent quality (which in the cheapest amps are often not) this will be good sounding product. Good copy of Monet painting will have almost all qualities of original event though is virtually worthless. Thankfully some of us fortunate enough will be only satisfied by original and keep pushing the prices up and art dealers in good health :)
