RE: Single vs. Parallel

Donald knows more of these things than I, so while we wait for his response, I'll throw in mine.
The Quest SS is a harmonically richer (enriched) sounding amp than a Shinri for the reasons Donald gives us. The Shinri is more transparent, more refined, purer sounding. Coming directly to it from a Quest SS, it will initially sound lean, which relative to reality, it is not. It is just leanER than a Quest SS.

There are some folks who prefer the richer (warmer, fuller, etc.) sound of the Quest SS. I suspect you are one of them, which is why I made the recommendation that I did.

At the time I auditioned the Shinri, I was comparing it with a 2A2 based Nero and found it less robust, more restrained, more elegant than the Nero. I have not A/B'd the Shinri and Quest SS directly, so I am extrapolating. I have compared the Quest SS with a Nero and, as I say, the latter with a Shinri.
