RE: Single vs. Parallel

Here's a note from my website which is not exactly the comparison you're asking about but suggestive nonetheless:

Shinri. 10 watt monoblock amplifier, identical to the Neiros, but with a single 300B output tube in place of parallel 2A3’s to provide a more nuanced, disciplined, and refined perspective than their 2A3 brothers. They are Mozart to the Neiro’s Beethoven. Great sense of control on harpsichords and pianos. Remarkable delicacy and suavity overall. Where the Neiros are notable for drama and contrast, the Shinris lead with poise and control.

The Shinri compared with its less expensive brothers will be more transparent, more refined, suaver, but still a 300B amp. Most people's sense of a 300B is based on less ambitious amps which will be a bit warmer, more lush, less transparent. Based on what I hear from you, you might well prefer the less expensive amps. The best Audio Note 300B amp value is probably the P3...and P3 Silver and P3 Silver Signature. At least as good as their monoblock versions ( the Quests), maybe even better.

Remember, when you're talking SET's, you are talking differences as well as improvements, and not everyone will like the differences of the "better" amp. I often have the sense that the dominent rule of audio -- that everything is lawful -- is especially true of tube amps.
