RE: Uses for a push-pull 6V6 mono block

Paully, hi. What a wonderful spouse you have. What is that rectifier? A 5Y3? I would urge you to consider using the amp to power a sub woofer. Do you know who manufactured the amp? The transformers look very nice. Check all R values against what they indicate to eliminate drifters - especially those around the phase splitter. I have found a tube PP amp works very nicely for sub woofer duty. I would replace all electrolytic caps and probably all couplers too. Looks to me you have been given a little gem. If the amp employs cathode bias consider replacing the cathode R. I have had excellent results with Mills ww and also the gold anodised power R that Michael Percy carries. I think they are about $6. If you are keen to experiment instead of a single cathode R use 2 R in series to equal the value you need. I am currently thinking this arrangement actually sounds better (more relaxed) than using a single R. Have fun rebuilding/restoring. Happy Listening.
