This is what I did:
Monoblocks
Each
6H8C Replaced by an RCA 6SN7 then Phillips NOS circa 1960
12AX7 Replaced by Svetlanas then Cryogenic NOS
12AU7 Replaced by RCAs then Phillips NOS circa 1960
845C Replaced by SuperTNT 845B then by SuperTNT 845M (latest version Jan 2006)I have not experimented with mixing the RCAs, the Phillips and the Cryos, but I do have Herbies tube dampers on all tubes incl the 845Ms.
I still have all the previous tubes so there are endless hours of fun available when I have nothing else to do!
Next experiment is Torlyte platforms for the monoblocks, and i have come across a material to use as a platform which is a sandwich of steel and polymers used for industrial sound damping, but each panel will be over $200, so I am taking a rain check. It does work wonders as a platter mat for my Gyrodek, however!
