Several years back Mikey sent Paul Joppa two sets of MQ B7 5K line output transformers with permalloy cores. One had been cryo'd the other was stock. Paul built a line stage with a switch that allowed changing from one to the other on the fly. I'm not sure of a concensus, but I could pretty clearly claim that I liked the sound of the cryo'd trans better. As for a source for getting it done, I see a local outfit, One Cryo, as the first hit on an Alta Vista search. I have checked out their site before, looking into cryo treatment for gun barrels. They seem pretty reasonable and able to accomodate a pretty broad range of part sizes.
Also, Jennifer Crock of Jena Labs is now cryo treating her wire on a custom order basis, and she might be willing to treat other components for folks. We have just received a sample of the wire for evaluation.
