Re: cryogenic treatment

I would guess that the short answer is yes, just immerse it - but for how long - 15 min, 24 hours, 1 month - does it make any difference? Just don't get burned, or drop your prize PP before it returns to room temp, or you will have many shattered pieces.

But, I bet that any manufacturers that "deal" in cryo treated whatever, will say that it must be critally time controlled, using only an atomic clock, immersed only in special organic, secret, vessels of a pyramidal shape, oriented towards north.

There's been a very heated (no pun intended) debate about cryo treating trumpets (or any instrument), and the +/- effects. As usual, there are people in both camps, but when subjected to scientific measurement & double blind listening tests, the consensus seems to be that it appears to be a scam, at least as far as metallurgy goes.

Liquid nitrogen is very cheap and can easilly be obtained from people that distribute gases (O2, nitrogen, acetylene, propane, etc.), such as Gaspro and Air Liquide. Have at it, and best of luck - be safe.
